Title: How To Track Your Writing
Post by: SepiaAndDust on Sep 04, 2024, 03:50 PM
Sorry, y'all. I'm supposed to be coding an awesome word-tracking system for this site. The expected launch of the site was sometime next spring, but things got pushed up, and the system isn't ready. (Doesn't help that I'm the 3rd-worst coder in the world.)

But never fear! Until that is up and running, here are some great places to keep track of your writing.

Huge thanks to Dianne for compiling these! You can find her original post on Twitter here (https://x.com/DiannetheWriter/status/1806147639227916599).

1. TrackBear - https://trackbear.app
Free. Track multiple projects and goals at a time. You can track by words, pages, time, etc. which is functionality NaNoWriMo lost in 2019. Create leaderboards with friends and groups where you can set community goals and challenges.

2. MyWriteClub - https://mywriteclub.com
Free. Not many frills. Track multiple projects and goals at once and track by pages, words, time, etc. You can run word sprints with your friends and keep up with their progress.

3. WriteTrack - https://writetrack.cloud
Free. Again, track multiple goals at once. You can only track by number of words written. You can weight certain days and it does the math to write more/less on weekdays vs weekends, etc. Create groups and see your friends' progress

5. 4theWords - https://app.4thewords.com
Free for 15 days, then $4/month. Not a traditional tracking tool. 4thewords gamifies your goals. You log in and write words to defeat monsters. This has a pay-as-you-go system instead of locking you into a subscription.

(4theWords has updated to a free with paid benefits model, instead of the pay as you go model they had before. Still a good program that might scratch the right itch for you)
